Originally built in 1911 as an Opera House and later used for school functions by the Franklin and Marshall College(known as the Mercersburg Academy), the Star Theatre has undergone many changes to look like it does today.
Fire damaged the theater in the 1930's, after which a decorator from Philadelphia was called in to restore the damage. A massive overhand was done which included Art Deco light fixtures and Flocked wallpaper.
